Spring Repairs (Serpentine)
A spring can break due to many different things. This spring is a serpentine spring which is just one spring attached to the sofa on each end of its frame. These springs can break by just snapping anywhere from one end to the other or it could particularly break away from the fixing used to hold it to the frame of the sofa. This spring had snapped inside the sofa causing discomfort when the customer sat on their sofa. Our technician arrived at the customers home within the given time slot and repaired the damage to the serpentine spring. This type of spring is repaired in the exact same way as a sprung edge spring.
Our technician starts by flipping the sofa over to gain access to the underneath. They first remove the feet, then use a braddle to pull up all of the staples from the dust cover and then use pliers to take them out. After the staples are removed the technician was able to pull back the dust cover.
This gives the technician a full view of the springs. Using a hammer and a screwdriver the technician then removes the spring from the sofa. Once the old spring has been removed the technician now supplies a new one. This has been cut to size and he fits it to the frame of the sofa. Once this has been completed the technician double checks over all other springs to ensure they aren’t broken. Lastly he staples the dust cover back to the frame of the sofa. Then re attaches the feet and flips the sofa back over.
