This grey leather bolster had some nicks in it along with some colour loss that the customer was looking to rectify. Upon the arrival the technician began to clean the bolster. It was cleaned using a leather cleaner and a scrubbing brush. This to ensure all dirt is pulled out of the grain of the car seat. After the seat had been scrubbed a lint free cloth is used to remove the dirt residue. Now that the bolster is cleaned the technician uses leather prep. Similarly this is done using a lint free cloth.
Next the technician applies leather filler using a spatula. Once applied the technician uses a hairdryer to dry the filler. After the filler is dry the technician uses 400grit sandpaper to smooth the area.
And now the technician applies some grey leather dye. First this is done using a lint free cloth to apply a base coat. This is also dried using a hairdryer. Now the technician uses an air compressor to apply a top coat of grey leather dye. The technician then applies the final layer onto the repaired area, this is of the lacquer which is used to seal the repair. After the repair has been completed the area needs to be left for at least 1 hour until it is dry enough to touch if the customer wishes to have a closer look at the repair however we do not recommend it if you can help it. The area should then not be used for approximately 48 hours depending on how much colour and filler is applied during the repair and on how much damage there was to repair.
On going maintenance
We advise that all leather is cleaned and protected every six months this allows the leather to stay clean and fresh and the protection cream gives that extra barrier between the wear and tear and the sofa. Wear and tear is inevitable. However it does prolong it.

We offer a yearly maintenance plan for all customers that have had our full restoration service this is where you get a reduced fixed price for us to visit every year to undertake a full clean and minor repairs for the price of our standard clean package.
