The owner of this arm chair was happy with the style and comfort of the sofa they already owned. Their “Dream Chair” was no longer for sale. Therefore, they could not purchase a new colour. The colour already owned didn’t fit the colour scheme of the lounge they were building.

Colour Change

Out technician arrived at the home and cleaned the chair using leather cleaner. This is remove any body perspiration and dirt that has soaked into the leather. Once this had been completed the technician preps the arm chair. Prep contains a chemical called acetone. As a result, the colour is removed from the leather. Following this procedure the technician sanded down the arm chair. Sanding down it down helps to remove large patches of pigment of leather colour. The technician then prepped the arm chair again to remove final colour.

Starting the colouring procedure the technician gave the arm chair a base colour coating of its new colour. This gives an even coating of the new colour to all areas of the leather. After this the technician applies more colour using an airbrush. Once the colour is applied to the arm chair the technician applied a final coat of lacquer.

After Completion

Once completed the sofa needs to be left for at least 1 hour until it is dry enough to touch. This is if the customer wishes to have a closer look at the repair however we do not recommend it. The sofa should then not be used for approximately 48 hours. This depending on how much colour and filler is applied during the repair and on how much damage there was.

We advise that all leather is cleaned and protected every six months. This allows the leather to stay clean and fresh. The protection cream gives that extra barrier between the wear and tear and the sofa.

Yearly maintenance 

We offer a yearly maintenance plan for all customers that have had our full restoration service. This is where you get a reduced fixed price for us to visit every year. This to undertake a full clean and minor repairs for the price of our standard clean package.  If you would like to take advantage of this package please speak to technician while on site. They can get you added to the plan and get your next appointment booked in.
