Sewing Sofa Seat
Home \Sewing Sofa Seat
This leather sofa seat has a burst seam. Usually this is caused when the seats are worn in and sink when sat on. Extra pressure is put on the stitching to hold up the person sitting on the seat. Therefore causing it to burst. Commonly with stitching once it has broken it continues to unravel.
In order to repair this the technician uses a curved needle and cotton. Using the needle in the holes in the leather the technician sews. Firstly the technician threads the cotton in the curved needle. Secondly the cotton is doubled over. Next the technician ties the ends of the cotton and begins to stitch the leather together. Meanwhile the leather on either side of the seam is pulled in to help the process. Once the needle is put through the holed in each side its pulled tight to bring the leather together tightly. After the leather is sewn together th two ends of cotton are tied together in 3 knots. Lastly the technician cuts the remainder of the cotton off.
