Scuff Leather Repairs
This sofa had been suffering from a scuff on the arm of it. The technician arrived at the customers house and set up all the equipment.
Scuff Repair
First the technician uses a lint free cloth and leather cleaner to clean the scuff of all dirt. Next they use another lint free cloth and leather prep. This removes all debris and the manufactures coating. Once this has been done they use 320 grit sandpaper to sand down the area. Once the area has all of the excess removed they move on to 400 grit sandpaper. With this the technician sands and smooths down the area completely.
After the area is smooth the technician applies filler to the scuff area. The filler fills the parts of the scuff that has removed the leather. Our technician applies a coat of filler and then sands it down. Using 400 grit sandpaper. This ensures that the area is smooth. Then the technician applies a coat of colour using the air compressor. Once this is done the technician will repeat the process a few times. Until the area is completely evenly filled. Then a final coat of colour will be applied.
Now that the colour has all been applied the technician moves on. They apply a final coat of lacquer to the repair. This seals the repair
After Completion
Once completed the area needs to be left for at least 1 hour until it is dry enough to touch. This is if the customer wishes to have a closer look at the repair however we do not recommend it. This area of the sofa should then not be used for approximately 48 hours. This depending on how much colour and filler is applied during the repair and on how much damage there was.
We advise that all leather is cleaned and protected every six months. This allows the leather to stay clean and fresh. The protection cream gives that extra barrier between the wear and tear and the sofa.
