Scratch Car Seat Leather Repairs

This leather car seat had a scratch in it that was in need of a repair.
Our technician began the repair by cleaning the damaged area with a lint free cloth and leather cleaner. Next they used leather prep and another lint free cloth to prep the damaged area. Once this is done the technician uses 320 grit sandpaper to sand down the area. Once any roughness has been removed the technician uses 400 grit sandpaper to smooth it over fully.
Now that this has been fully smoothened the technician applies filler. After this has been done the technician uses the 400 grit sandpaper to smooth the filler over.
Now the technician applies a coat of leather dye. Once this is done the technician applies another cost of filler and sands it down. Then applies more colour to it, this is done a couple of times until the technician is happy. Next the technician uses a needle to put the holes into the leather. Then the technician uses another coat of leather dye to colour the inside of the holes.
The technician then applies the final layer onto the repaired area, this is of the lacquer which is used to seal the repair
After Completion
After the repair has been completed the area needs to be left for at least 1 hour until it is dry enough to touch if the customer wishes to have a closer look at the repair however we do not recommend it if you can help it. The area should then not be used for approximately 48 hours depending on how much colour and filler is applied during the repair and on how much damage there was to repair.
