This Range Rover panel had a slight scuff on it. The customer knew it was small. However it irritated him to look at it and why should you have to? Firstly the leather repairs technician began by cleaning the area. This is completed using leather cleaner and a lint free cloth. Secondly the technician uses leather prep to remove the manufacturers coating from the panel. Next the technician uses 320 grit sandpaper to remove the raised areas from the scuff. Now there is just holes from where the leather has been removed. This is filled using texture paste.
Next the technician uses a sponge to apply the colour. This is done to ensure no overspray is left on the car and that the colour is applied in a grain. Once colour is applied it is dried using a hairdryer. After this is done and the filler has been built up enough and the technician is happy they move on. They then apply a coat of lacquer this is done to seal and protect the repair.
On going maintenance
We advise that all leather is cleaned and protected every six months this allows the leather to stay clean and fresh and the protection cream gives that extra barrier between the wear and tear and the sofa. Wear and tear is inevitable. However this helps to prolong it.
Cleaning kits are always recommended after every repair to help enable you to maintain your leather from future damage. Please feel free to ask our technician any questions where they will be happy to give you any help and guidance that you require.
