This light grey two seater sofa was looking very dirty and didn’t fit into the colour scheme of the customers home anymore so they was looking for a change

Our leather repairs technician arrived at the customers home. First the technician lays down towels to cover the floor to ensure that no leather dye can get spilled on the floor during the process of colour change. Once the surrounding area and the underneath of the sofa is covered up the technician can begin the process.

First the technician used leather cleaner and a scrubbing brush to clean the sofa. Meanwhile wiping away the dirt with a lint free cloth as it comes out of the sofa. This is to ensure that the sofa is cleaned and all dirt is out of the crevices. Next the technician preps the sofa, this is done using a lint free cloth and leather prep to wipe off the manufacturers coating and get rid of any pesticides lying on the sofa.

Colouring The Sofa

  • Now that the two seater sofa is cleaned the technician applies a base coat of the new colour in which the customer has decided upon. In this case the customer wanted there sofa to be black. The technician applies the base coat using a lint free cloth and the leather dye. Once the sofa has been base coated the technician dries it with a hair dryer.

    Then the technician begins using the air brush to apply evenly spread coats of leather dye over the two seater sofa. After each layer is applied it should be dried with a hair dryer. This is done to ensure the colour is spread over the sofa fully with no sections of the previous colour coming through.

    Finally the sofa has been fully colour restored in its new colour and the technician applies the final layer of lacquer. This seals the colour change.

After Completion

Once completed the area needs to be left for at least 1 hour until it is dry enough to touch. This is if the customer wishes to have a closer look at the repair however we do not recommend it. The area should then not be used for approximately 48 hours. This depending on how much colour is applied during the process.

We advise that all leather is cleaned and protected every six months. This allows the leather to stay clean and fresh. The protection cream gives that extra barrier between the wear and tear and the sofa.

Yearly maintenance 

We offer a yearly maintenance plan for all customers that have had our full restoration service. This is where you get a reduced fixed price for us to visit every year. This to undertake a full clean and minor repairs for the price of our standard clean package.  If you would like to take advantage of this package please speak to technician while on site. They can get you added to the plan and get your next appointment booked in.
