Sofa refurbishment Oxfordshire
Here we have a 3 seater sofa in Oxfordshire which is looking a little worse for wear.
The two end seat base cushions are noticeably flatter than the centre seat cushion.
When sitting on the sofa in Oxfordshire the customer noticed that they were sinking into their seat and it was extremely uncomfortable.
In order to restore the padding in the two seat cushions in the Oxfordshire sofa the technician will flip the sofa over.
Once flipped over the technician will enter the sofa from the underneath and add more padding to the seat cushions.
After the seats are filled to ensure that the seat base cushions are back up to manufacturers standard the technician will do the bottom of the sofa back up and return it right way up.
As you can see now the seat base cushions are all level and considerably more comfortable to sit on.
However the 3 seater Oxfordshire sofa still has significant colour loss.
In order to bring the sofa completely back to life the technician underwent a full clean and colour restoration.
Firstly the sofa is cleaned. This is done using leather cleaner and a lint free cloth.
After the Oxfordshire sofa has been cleaned the technician begins to prep the sofa.
This is done using leather prep and a lint free cloth.
This removes the manufacturers coating from the sofa. Similarly it removes all of the dirt and debris from the Oxfordshire sofa. Next the technician matches the colour of the sofa.
Specifically this sofa is known as a two tone sofa, this means that the sofa has multiple shades of colour on it to give it a two tone effect.
In order to get this effect the technician matches the lightest colour on the sofa, they then apply a base coat using a lint free cloth to rub the colour over the leather in small circular motions.
Once a base coat is applied they will use an air brush to spray the sofa. They apply thin evenly spread layers of colour.
After the dye has been applied the technician will dry the chair using a hairdryer.
The technician will then match the darker shade of colour and spray lightly over sofa using a technique to apply the dye in an uneven pattern so that there’s only noticeably small areas of the colour in various areas.
Again this will be dried using a hair dryer.
If there is another shade of colour in the sofa as there is here the technician will then match this colour and apply using the same technique to create the desired effect.
Similarly this will be dried using the hair dryer.
Now the technician can apply the final layer of lacquer.
After Completion
Lastly the technician applies the lacquer. This is used to seal the restoration. All of our products are water based except for the lacquer. Therefore the sofa needs to be left in order for all of the products to have enough time to cure.
Now that the Oxfordshire sofa restoration is completed the sofa needs to be left for a couple of hours in order to dry. Then it is touch dry should the customer wish to touch it. Although this is not recommended. The sofa should be left for 48 hours as a minimum until it is used but this depends on how much colour is applied.
