This leather arm chair’s seating area was severely worn down, cracking and peeling and the colour had worn down to its base colour. Firstly the technician cleans the seat. This is done using leather cleaner and a lint free cloth. The spray is applied directly to the cloth and rubbed into the leather. After the area is clean the technician applies leather prep. Again the prep is applied directly to the lint free cloth and rubbed onto the leather. This removes the manufacturers coating from the leather as well as any dirt and debris.
Once the area is full cleaned the technician uses 320 grit sandpaper to sand the area down. Once the area has been sanded thoroughly the technician proceeds to use 400 grit sandpaper to sand the area down again, this makes it smooth. After this the technician applies leather filler. This is done using a spatula to spread it evenly over the damaged area. This is dried using a hairdryer.
After the area is dried the technician applies leather dye to the seat. Initially a base coat colour is applied. This is done using the air compressor and air brush. Again this is dried using a hairdryer. Once this is done the technician uses a darker colour to create a mottle effect in the sofa. Once this is applied the technician again uses a hairdryer to ensure it is fully dried.
Now technician applies a final coat of lacquer. The arm chair is no longer worn down and cracking. After the repair has been completed the area needs to be left for at least 1 hour until it is dry enough to touch if the customer wishes to have a closer look at the repair however we do not recommend it if you can help it. The area should then not be used for approximately 72 hours depending on how much colour and filler is applied during the repair and on how much damage there was to repair.
