A burst seam is what looks like a tear in the joining of the materials. This can occur in both leather car seats and leather sofas. A burst seam is consequently the result of overusing leather. Burst seams can be due to sharp objects etc in your pockets. If burst seams occurs on your leather the technician will repair this. This is done by sewing the burst seam back together. This by rejoining the materials.

Repairing A Burst Seam
When a leather car seat seam has been damaged and is in need of a stitching repair there is a process in which to follow:
Our technician arrives at the customers car and used a curved needle and cotton to stitch the orange bolster seam back together. However it can often be very difficult to conduct as it is hard to get the needle through the leather. Therefore the technician has to use pliers to assist him. This is known in the trade as slip stitching using a special curved needle. Also allowing us to sew from the outside of the car seat. However this leaves the stitching invisible to the bolster as it remains inside.
We also offer a machine stitching service for sofa repairs. This is offered when the seam lines have torn rather than just the stitching coming undone. When we repair it we pull the cover in to re-machine stitch it which makes it look as it would of originally done. When this occurs the technician comes to your house and collects the cover for the sofa upon the first visit. It is then taken away to the workshop for approximately 7-14 working days (dependent on technicians workload at the time) to enable one of our technicians to undertake the service. The cover will then be brought back to your home upon a second visit where they will re attach the cover to your sofa. The sofa repair is then at this point fully completed.
