These red aniline leather sofas had a full clean and colour restoration. Initially they were faded from the sun and had areas that had gone dark. This as a result of body oils reacting with the natural leather.
Firstly the technician cleans all of the sofas. This is done using leather cleaner and a lint free cloth. As the sofa is aniline the cleaner is sprayed onto the cloth and gently wiped over the leather. After this has been completed the technician begins to prep the sofas. In order to do this the technician uses a lint free cloth and leather prep. Again the prep is applied to the cloth and gently wiped over the leather.
Now the technician begins to apply the colour to the sofas. This is done using red leather dye. A base coat is applied using a lint free cloth to wipe the dye over the sofa. Once the colour has been applied the technician uses an air compressor. This is to apply dye by spraying it with an air brush. This gives a better coverage on the sofas leaving no swirl markers from applying with a cloth.
Several coats of red colour may be applied via air brush and dried using a hair dryer to ensure the best coverage on the furniture. Lastly once the sofas are dried the technician can apply a few coats of lacquer. This is to seal and protect the sofas. Finally the sofas clean and colour restoration is completed. After completion they need to be left for at least 2 hours until they are dry enough to touch if the customer wishes to have a closer look at the restoration. However we do not recommend it if you can help it. The sofas must now be left for a minimum of 72 hours. Time scales of how long they must be left for us advised by the technician once completed. This is as it can increase depending on the number of coats of colour applied.
