This grey leather bolster has some damage to it that looks like holes in the leather. This requires a leather repair.
Our technician arrived at the customers car to restore the damage to the bolster on the car seat. Before the technician could do any work to the bolster he used masking tape to cover the surrounding area. This is to ensure that no overspray can land on the car during the restoration process.
First the technician uses a lint free cloth and leather cleaner to clean the damaged area. This is to ensure there is no dirt embedded in the restoration. After the area has been cleaned the technician preps it using leather prep and another lint free cloth. This is to remove the manufacturers coating and any pesticides on the leather. The technician applies leather filler and dries with a hairdryer. This is done repeatedly to build up the layers of filler in the holes. Once this is completed the technician uses sand paper to sand down the area. Ensuring it is smooth.
Next the technician can begin to apply grey colour to the damage. He does this using an air brush to spray over the colour loss area. Once the area has been coloured grey the technician applies the final coat of lacquer to seal the repair. Lastly this seals and protects the repair.
On going maintenance
We advise that all leather is cleaned and protected every six months this allows the leather to stay clean and fresh and the protection cream gives that extra barrier between the wear and tear and the car seat.
Cleaning kits are always recommended after every repair to help enable you to maintain your leather from future damage. Our technicians have some with them. Yearly maintenance plan
We offer a yearly maintenance plan for all customers that have had our full restoration service. This is where you get a reduced fixed price for us to visit every year to undertake a full clean and minor repairs for the price of our standard clean package.
